Whats the best tool for to use for foundation?

I always always use a sponge to apply foundation. It gives a more even coverage and is easier to use but everybody is different so try out a few different ways and see what works for you best. I was recently reminded by an amazing make-up artist that the fingers are the best tool. He only ever uses a sponge and/or his fingers and his base is absolutely flawless.
