37 and a half weeks pregnant could be in labor?

I am 37 weeks pregnant. Had a dr appointment today in which she told me I was 1 cm dialated and then she basically turned my vagina into a human blender and said that moved me to 4 and it should get some contractions going. My appointment was at 10 am. It is now almost 9pm and the back pain has not gone away and it gets worse and worse. It feels like Im getting my period. When I wipe there is a little bit of blood. Also it hurts to stand or do pretty much anything and no position I lay in helps. This is my first child so i do not know what to expect. any advice helps. Oh and when I sit on the toilet I feel like I have to push but nothing comes out I also feel a pressure in my vagina like I wanna push.
